It is customary for every RC44 regatta to host a gala dinner, it is a chance for the crews, owners and event partners to get together and relax after a busy regatta on the water. But for Lanzarote the Class thought it was time to mix up for format a little and so, on Saturday night, the RC44 sailors, shore crew, team managers and owners took part in the 2018 RC44 Gala Go-Karting Championship.
Racing on the Gran Karting Lanzarote track, one of the largest in Europe, eleven 270cc Honda go-karts, with the world’s best sailors and shore crew behind the wheel, battled it out for pride and glory.
The competition was fierce and the results were questionable but in the end Dean Barker was crowned RC44 go-kart champion after smoking second placed Ray Davies and third placed Hubert Detrey in the final!
Thank you Gran Karting Lanzarote it was awesome!
