TEAM 69

Hull Number: 20
Boat Owner: Laurent Déage (FRA)
Tactician: Sébastien Col (FRA)

The nine teams competing at the 44Cup Puerto Calero will include the RC44 ‘black boat’, which is regularly lent out to those looking to join the circuit or local teams. At the helm will be businessman Laurent Déage who has over 40 years of racing experience in the Med from one design to IRC boats. Déage will be joined by longtime friends Jean-Philippe Gallois on the mainsail and Fabrice Blondel who will be in the pit.

The all French crew is headed up by talented tactician Sébastien Col, whose wealth of experience in highly competitive racing circuits will be key to their success.

Déage explained: "I have been following and interested in the class for many years due to the owner helmsman rule and the high level of competition. It's a great opportunity to finally be able to sail the boat in Porto Calero.

The RC 44 is a well designed one-design which has not aged in terms of its performance. In addition, the crew work must be united to optimise its performance and the easy integration of transport for a 44 ‘ boat makes it a sure value for many years to come.

Each race is different and each mistake can be vey costly for the ranking which is exciting and the evolution of the rules of the class demonstrates an open-mindedness of the owners - an elite class but which gives new teams a chance!"
