As a World Series recognised special event, the 2020 44Cup World Championship will take place in Sotogrande, Spain, over the 23 - 27 September with the race course set against the backdrop of Gibraltar.
Defending the 2019 World Champion title is Chris Bake's Team Aqua. In true RC44 style the 2019 World Championship went down to the wire in the final race of the final day with Chris Bake’s Team Aqua finally achieving the trophy which had alluded them for the last 13 years.
The team claimed the 2019 title ahead of Vladimir Prosikhin’s Team Nika and Torbjörn Törnqvist’s local heroes aboard Artemis Racing.
For 2020 the team to watch will be Gibraltar crew Peninsula Petroleum of John Bassadone who, with legendary tactician Ed Baird calling tactics will be finishing hard for the title.
